After ten years with Bell Canada, Karel Jan Kosman founded Raycom Systems Inc, a venture riding the nascent wave of fiber optics. He built relationships with industry leaders Dupont, Corning, and IBM, engaging in multiple-level relationships. The business was ultimately acquired by the connector division of 3M.

Karel’s venture capital projects required diligent communications with the sponsors and co-investors, such as the US Agency for International Development and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
